端午節(jié)的英文，其實(shí)我們完全可以說 The Duanwu Festival。 因?yàn)閷δ切┎涣私鉂h語或中國文化的人來說，the Duanwu Festival 和 the Dragan Boat Festival 真的沒有任何區(qū)別...

（但是如果考試，千萬要寫Dragon Boat Festival，閱卷老師可能只認(rèn)這個(gè)……）

一個(gè)名字傳達(dá)不了太多，關(guān)鍵在于對名字背后含義的解釋。

The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month.

端午節(jié)在農(nóng)歷五月初五。

表示某個(gè)節(jié)日是在哪一天，用 fall on，落在某一天。

fall on 真的既地道又官方，寫在試卷上絕對很高級(jí)的。

對端午節(jié)的解釋，當(dāng)然就是端午節(jié)的幾個(gè)重要傳統(tǒng)習(xí)俗了！

首先，粽子， rice-dumpling/zo ngzi.

因?yàn)榇蟛糠滞鈬藢︳兆記]有概念，所以名字說成什么樣，他們都是很難懂，那我們干脆就說 Zongzi 好啦。

Zongzi are pyramid-shaped dumplings made of glutinous rice, stuffed with different fillings and wrapped in bamboo leaves.

粽子是金字塔形狀的糯米做的餃子，有不同的餡兒，包在竹葉里面。

1）have bamboo leaves watered.

粽葉先浸水。

2）Fill the boat shape with a few tablespoons of the soaked sticky rice. Top with a sprinkling of mung beans.

在船型粽葉中填入幾勺浸濕的糯米，再加少許綠豆。

3）Add some smoked meat and shrimps.

再加入腌制過的肉和蝦。

4）Packed it with line with three, four, or five angles.

用線把粽子裹起來，可以做成三角、四角或五角。

5）Boiled them, first with big fire, then turn to small fire till rip.

然后再進(jìn)行蒸煮，先用大火，再轉(zhuǎn)成小火直到粽子殼開裂。

當(dāng)然吃瓜群眾在端午節(jié)除了吃粽子，也少不了看熱鬧。端午節(jié)的熱鬧當(dāng)屬賽龍舟~

賽龍舟：Dragon boat racing.

Dragon boat racing is a traditional pastime.

賽龍舟是一項(xiàng)傳統(tǒng)娛樂活動(dòng)。

Crews of 22 people in long, dragon-shaped boats race lengths of 2000 meters.

22名隊(duì)員坐在像龍一樣的長長的船里，比賽劃2000米。

雖然端午節(jié)還有其他一些活動(dòng)，但把賽龍舟和吃粽子這兩個(gè) tradition 介紹清楚了，就已經(jīng)很棒啦！

The Dragon Boat Festival,also called Double Fifth Festival,is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar.

This festival is to commemorate the death of QU Yuan,an upright and honest poet and statesman who is said to have committed suicide by drowning himself in a river.

The most important activity of this festival is the Dragon Boat races. It symbolizes people‘s attempts to rescue Qu Yuan. In the current period, these races also demonstrate the virtues of cooperation and teamwork.

Besides,the festival has also been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous rice).

Nowadays dragon boat races have been an annual popular sport activity among people. In addition,making and eating Zongzi—a dumpling made of glutinous rice and wrapped in bamboo or reed leaves—is also a popular custom during this day.

It can be made by many kinds of stuffing. What’s more, hanging herbs on the front door, drinking realgar wine and pasting up picture of Zhong Kui—a mythic guardian figure in ancient china—are also popular during the festival, which mean protecting, people from evil and diseases.
